China leads immigration (2002)

The People's Republic of China became the largest source of new immigrants to Canada in 2002. During the first decade of the 21st century, China averaged over 30,000 immigrants to Canada every year, representing 15 percent of the immigration to Canada during that period. These immigrants joined communities across the country made up of Canadian–born Chinese and relocated members of the Chinese Diaspora. New Chinese immigration has revitalized existing Chinatowns and created new Chinese communities across the country.
