In 2007, the Vaughan Mills Shopping Centre contracted the MHSO to curate a multicultural holiday exhibit examining the various celebrations and festivals that occur during the winter months in Canada. The exhibit focuses on twelve different holidays that are observed by diverse cultural and religious communities – Diwali (Hindu), Hanukkah (Jewish), Eid ul-Adha (Muslim), Christmas (Christian), Kwanzaa (people of African descent), Chinese New Year, Hogmanay (Scottish), Tet Festival (Vietnamese), Las Posadas (Latin American), First Nations (e.g., Sinck Tuck – Inuit), Sadeh (Iranian), and St. Lucy’s Day (Swedish). It was developed to promote understanding of and respect for the varied and vibrant cultural and religious celebrations that can be experienced in Ontario. The exhibit is on display in the shopping centre every year between October and February.
