University Course Collaborations

The MHSO regularly collaborates with professors in the teaching of university courses. For instance, in 2013/14, it implemented educational programs tailored to meet the specific needs of students in university courses taught by Professor Marlene Epp (Canada: The Immigrant Experience, University of Waterloo), Professor Christine Berkowitz (Nearby History: The Method and Practice of Local History, University of Toronto Scarborough), Professor Matt Price (Hacking History, University of Toronto), Professor Daniel Macfarlane (Ontario Since Confederation, University of Ottawa), and Professor Rose Fine-Meyer (Social Studies, Ontario Institute for Studies in Education). The Society provided training and learning placements for 46 students.

The MHSO also hosts interns. It has provided internship or practicum placements for M.A. students in Museum Studies from the Faculty of Information, University of Toronto, Archival Studies from the School of Information Studies, McGill University, and Public History from the Department of History, Western University. It has also hosted fourth-year history interns from the University of Toronto Mississauga and has served as a field placement centre for teacher candidates from the Faculty of Education, York University.
