Artist Bernice Hune, pictured here with one of her pieces, has exhibited in galleries in Canada and Hawaii. She works primarily with textiles, and her pieces often reference the techniques and materials of her Chinese cultural heritage, such as calligraphy and ink painting. Through her work as an arts educator, Bernice became involved in storytelling. She now crafts what she calls ‘Gum San stories’ – stories that reflect on the Chinese Canadian experience through the fabric of narrative, both fictional and semi-biographical.
