Although the Chinese Exclusion Act was repealed in 1947, regulations
prohibiting families with children over the age of 18 from joining fathers
in Canada remained in place. The repeal was only half a victory. From 1947
to 1957, when the regulations were also repealed, only 500 families were
reunited in Canada.

the repeal of the Exclusion Act.
